Current opportunities

By volunteering you can make a real difference to both your own life and the lives of those around you. With over 40 organisations within ACFA: The Advice Network, we're confident that one of them will have a volunteering opportunity which is right for you.

Brigstowe Project

The Brigstowe Project is a front-line, responsive charity based in Bristol. We provide free confidential support, information and advice to people in and around Bristol living with or affected by HIV. We have the following opportunities available:

Peer Support Volunteers
Can you listen and share experiences with people who have just been diagnosed?
Can you support people who are struggling with their diagnosis?
We are looking for positive people who can listen and share experiences with others. You can build your confidence, learn skills and gain a Peer Mentoring qualification as well as enjoying the feeling of making a real difference to someone’s life.
We are asking for applications to be submitted as soon as possible! Full training will be given from from the 15th to the 18th September.
For more information or to request an application pack please get in touch.

Publicity Volunteers
We are looking to recruit a small team of publicity volunteers to assist Brigstowe in publicising our services and raising awareness about HIV. Initially this role will be focused on having a presence at public events such as Pride and Refugee Week but we will also meet as a team to discuss other ways in which we can publicise Brigstowe. This role is best suited to someone who is sociable, creative and wants to get involved.
For more information or to request an application pack please get in touch.

Hosting Volunteers
We would also like to recruit a small team of volunteers to host REACT! events.
This position would include welcoming people that are new to the group, assisting with feedback forms and other administration. This role would suit someone with good people skills and is only open to people who are HIV as the REACT! events are just open to HIV positive people. Please note that we would require you to come to a few REACT! events to get a feel for them before you would be able to host.
For more information or to request an application pack please get in touch.

Pennywise Project

Pennywise is a local money management project supporting Bristol residents to make their money go further. Through one-on-one support, group activities and events we empower people to take control of their finances.

We’re looking for people to join our volunteering team and have new roles to advertise:

  • Administrative support - to support the day to day running of the Pennywise office, and to support with workshops and event preparation.
  • Referral co-ordinator - to support our referral process, helping our advisors to get really good quality referrals.
  • Online communications - to continue our website development, so that we have as much low-cost local information as we can.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 15th August and we’ll be holding interviews on Thursday 18th August, but if you cannot make this date that’s OK, we’ll find an alternative.

Volunteering with us will give you experience of working within a small charitable project, and a large busy office as we sit within Places for People. Pennywise is a small, dedicated team of 8 employees and 3 volunteers, and we’d love you to join us!
