Advanced PIP Course – An update on Case-law and Appeals Preparation

Date: 19 January 2018

Venue: Barton Hill Settlement

Trainer: Jo Silcox

Course outline:

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) has been with us now for over 4 years and the body of case law is growing rapidly.

This one day course is aimed at helping experienced advisers prepare effective submissions and/or present legal arguments at PIP appeal hearings. It will provide an update on case law alongside tips and tactics to help you successfully represent your clients at PIP appeals.

You will have the opportunity to discuss recent changes to the review and renewal process and a chance to share your experiences and ideas.

In addition we will consider the impact of the introduction of alternatives to face to face hearings on both claimants and advisers.

This course includes:

  • A round-up of recent Upper Tribunal and Court decisions
  • A discussion of some current themes in the PIP case-law
  • Tactics and tips for representing at PIP appeal hearings
  • A discussion on the alternatives to face to face hearings

We have also invited an experienced First-tier Tribunal Judge to join us in the afternoon to provide a judicial perspective on key issues regarding the fact finding process at PIP appeal hearings, weighing conflicting evidence and the role of the appellant’s representative.
