To support and offer appropriate assistance to the Debt Advisers,  and their clients with a range of activities.    

With a good level of written and verbal communication skills, proficient in IT e.g Word, Excel and Outlook you will be required to imput data into a data base, communicate clearly, assertively and sensitively with people from a wide range of backgrounds. 

Main purpose of Job

To support and offer appropriate assistance to the Debt Advisers,  and their clients with a range of activities.    

With a good level of written and verbal communication skills, proficient in IT e.g Word, Excel and Outlook you will be required to imput data into a data base, communicate clearly, assertively and sensitively with people from a wide range of backgrounds. 

After training:

Your main daily responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Completing and accurately recording client initial paperwork including conflict of interest, ID check, data protection and complaints procedure
  • Ability to support clients to obtain information and paperwork to enable them to engage and progress with debt advice (income and expenditure evidence)
  • Provide effective and adaptable benefit checks in person and by phone 
  • Checking proof of client income by carrying out a tax code check
  • Obtaining and accurately recording debt balances from creditors
  • Prepare and chase token payment offers letters; updating creditor details and relevant areas on our data management system     
  • To identify, research and apply or assist clients with applications including, but not limited to, local council DHP and Council tax, water and utility discount schemes, grants and charitable applications
  • To obtain 1-3 credit reference files as agreed by the client and requested by the debt adviser
  • To support advisers to check and manage client information, including adding to case files as requested
  • To follow up tasks set by the debt adviser as required to progress cases
  • To undertake essential training, specifically in Debt Advice, adhering to funder requirements.
  • Complete and maintain an accurate, up to date training record for Continuing Personal Development

 Contract Terms:

Working hours: 21 hours per week

Post guaranteed until March 2020 subject to funding

 Salary: £8.63 per hour (starting rate)

 Annual Leave:  (30 days full time equivalent)

 Qualifying Workplace Pension Scheme: 5% employers contribution
